The Telltales are a Sydney band that specialise in “Great melodies, intelligent playing, thoughtful arrangements and insightful lyrics” (Michael Smith, Drum Media) and Universal Head, as resident graphic designer (and drummer) created these two CD packaging designs for their first and second releases, The Telltales and Haymaking.
Both feature the excellent photography of Dean Dampney. Haymaking, especially, is one of Universal Head’s favourite designs, all the elements (including the main title, which is constructed from letters sourced from a 1922 edition of Jonathon Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels) inspired by the cover image that gave the band the title: Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s Haymaking (1565).
